Sam Reeves (aka UR S MAN)- In thinking about "Busted Dreams" and dreams in general, I thought of  the end of the dream. You know ...what you leave behind. I know others have contributed to mine, that are both here and gone on.... As I put on the CD comments, my brother and I shared a love for the music and influence of some guitar greats, a few are mentioned in the song. So I dedicated the song to that shared love, and invited everyone else to join in on that. Ha Ha! So, I even decided It would be my request for this song to be included in my departure, whenever that occurs. (My) "Old Rockers Epitaph" LOL!

I started playing this song, and I knew instantly Chris Dair could and would  play the parts magnificently that I could both hear and not hear. So I asked him if he would be interested, and he graciously said he would. I didn't know if he sensed some form of destiny with this as I admittingly did at the time. But, I sure am thankful for his masterful interpretation and collaboration. That part of the dream was deffinetely exceeded!

Production notes: Staging -Rhythm guitar (left to far left to left), Lead guitar (right to far right to right to center), Drum set 1 (just right of center ) Drum set 2 (just left of center), Bass (center to left to center). Drum set 2 joins in after the Drum set 1 rest. Guitar bleeds setup to continue separation but allowing natural transgression across stage.

Artist/writer notes: Sometimes something instrumental may generate more feelings, emotions, and thought as much or more than other songs. Track 14 seemed to name itself  following the progression of songs in Busted dreams ...especially following "Hey Blondie". It is followed by another writing collaboration by Sam Reeves and Michael S Morrison, titled "Try"(track 15). I am not sure where "lipstick red" sunrises or sunsets leave most folks, but it smears all over my personal view.... some kind of challenge to pick up again and learn I suppose.

Artist/writer notes:  (Sam Reeves) Michael had this song idea, and I would say all the initial inspiration for the story/lyric. I responded immediately on guitar and a vocal tune. It was a time when I visited the area again, We wrote a bunch of songs in that time frame. I don't really know his inner thoughts on this song, but I know how it impressed me. To catch a feeling of someone else's dream(s) almost gives a omnipresence about you. Even a daunting wish for a better lasting fulfilling success....that precipitated the end of the song for me "Who are you today"  for all those that are to follow....
Some of the later vocalizations ("the ooohs" as I call them) took in my writing partners style.... other than that some of the greats I have always genuinely been influenced by.
As often the guitar welcomed the piano part, has been a song I have always wanted to record.

Artist/Writer notes:
Track 11 of the Busted Dreams is a slight break from the typical instrumentation of the rest of the album. Was written with piano and vocal.Was filled in with synthesized Viola, then Stings with the keys. All was played straight through.
The vocal and piano tracks were recorded live together, additionally recorded by video on two separate cameras.
 The lyrics were started after reading a negative piece about if there is any worthy original music anymore. Of course there are those who disagree, listen, even create regardless of those "Grand" machines' attempted sequester.... especially with an open heart. Even a special one.... and so the song was completed with that special note, heart, and one in mind.

Artist's notes: song evolved from guitar and vocal to closer to writers conception. Song got good response at writer's night performances (acoustic guitar, vocal). Was fun but challenging to put together in the studio. Once finding a mix between blues rock/funk/Hendrix/Winwood mix it felt comfortable.
Writer's notes: early concept was an exercise of expanding "we can make this big" into a full fledged song..... the song just sorta flowed out naturally. Seemed to center around a passionate way of excelling in a relationship. Never a good relationship dream without some!

Writer/artist notes: track 9 of the Busted Dreams album was 70% written in my early Nashville years. I felt it always needed something more... few heard what I had on it. Some of it all lyrically came through experience... The Oh's came about naturally in the extended vision of the song. I don't like to add oh's for Oh's sake. LOL even though there are many many many ha ha!

Writers notes: Somethings you write out of the air are almost prophetic at times. That seems to somehow follow the dreams narrative. Sometimes it could get fulfilled. Sometimes it seems busted after a point, but you act it out anyways ...following UR heart. Dreams can be like video ...I write to that most often.
after initial write an edit to alter ending was made both lyrically and musically with some satisfaction, another part of the dream.

I owe my life to several things. But at times it has has been music that kept me alive. It might be easy to conceive that a broken heart , a down spirit might might desire to extinguish the fire with playing , writing a song. I found on numerous times the next works gave me instant will to live another day. If I talked to God I was convinced He said, "Sam finish all the work I gave you before you leave." Sooner or later I know what the response will be. So the hopper is full! So much to complete!
Next come purpose. Not mine, but the songs, the art , the albums , the dreams... they are for those all those  that God wanted to hear them. I don't know how many there are... I know a little of the heart opening it will do for some.... as the inspiration and spirit opened mine! And the thanks I give to the listener because that purposeful listen has given me extra life.

Busted Dreams... more than just a collection of thoughts/dreams/songs/stories maybe a lifetime.
In it "the artist" takes life as a coin. Some times 
flips it in a good sense, honestly other times just says,"flip it!" till the next chance. Sometimes it seems like a big work of art, other times reduced 
to near nothing. A penny can be a blessing. Some
use it as an insult (a penny for your thoughts). Flip
it again. Take the next chance, even if you got all you ever wished for...you can only share that for a while. One side reality, one side dreams. Flip it again we all do...
